Hydraelectric is the UK's largest manufacturer and supplier of premium hoses, solenoid valves and products for water control, which is based in UK, France and Slovenia. Hydralectric approached Electi (Louisa Fleet Sales Recruitment Consultancy Ltd) with the aim of bringing in a sales director, as the business's key sales person was also the Managing Director at the time of the assignment. We caught up with Andrew Bristow, Chairman of Hydralectric to gather his thoughts on the service we delivered.
It became apparent that our key salesperson was also the Managing Director. We needed to expand the team to bring in a sales director so that we could create more focus on long term sales growth, together with the integration of our businesses across the European continent. It was not a CV churning exercise - this was something where we needed a proper search exercise done.
Yes, certainly. We've got a candidate which we're happy with. He's been with us now for a few months. We got value for money for the service provided to the point where I have actually used [Electi] to recruit for another role in another business that I chair.
The timelines were quite aggressive in my mind to begin with, we did get our longlist and our shortlist within the timelines proposed and the recruitment went, relatively smoothly to the point that, we made the appointment within the three month period that was originally discussed. I think the real difference, compared the larger agencies which I've used in the past, is that we've got a genuine personal service and a real genuine focus on our our recruitment process. And this was, well managed, well structured. There were frequent calls that were all prearranged, both with us and as I now know, with the with the potential candidates. And not only was that process run through to the appointment of somebody that it also continued beyond the date where the offer had been made and accepted, but more than that, when we were defining the role, Louisa was the person that identified where we should search and what type of sectors people would come from, which were not sectors we had considered ourselves. And eventually, for the second recruitment Louisa did, the person came from one of the sectors that she recommended.
